Our History

Dr. Martin

Our dental office has a rich history in Raleigh and was founded in the early 1900's by Dr. Martin. He ran the practice to the late 1940's until he passed the reigns to Dr. Edwards.

Dr. Edwards

Dr. Edwards acquired the clinic around 1940's. Dr. Edwards ran the practice until 1984 when Dr. Daniel Makely acquired the office.

Dr. Makely

Dr. Daniel Makely acquired the office in 1984. In 2004, the office was moved to its current location.

Dr. Throop

Dr. Vivian Ariail Throop began in 2018 and established the office as City of Oaks Dental. Our office sees patients of all ages and strives on providing the best dental care and patient comfort.

Meet Dr. Vivian Ariail Throop


Dr. Throop is from Rockingham, North Carolina and graduated with highest honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with her bachelors of science in Public Health. She earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery with magna cum laude honors at The Ohio State University Dental School. She completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.
